KARAMAT ALI, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

An eminent labour and development activist for the last four decades, Karamat Ali is the founding member of Pakistan Institute of Labour Education & Research. He is also founding member of various local and regional networks like Pakistan Peace Coalition, Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy and South Asia Labour Forum. He has been a part of labour and peace movements in Pakistan and has played a key role in linking up these movements with regional and global counterparts.

MOHAMMAD TAHSEEN

Tahseen is the founding Director of South Asia Partnership Pakistan (a consortium of Canadian and South Asian NGOs) and a leading national NGO in Pakistan, working for social, political and economic empowerment of the weakest, especially peasants, women and religious minorities.

B M KUTTY

Mr. Biyyathil Mohyuddin Kuttty has been a political activist throughout his practical life. He is known in the political circles of Pakistan as someone who has excelled in the drafting of the manifestoes, constitutions and resolutions of various progressive political parties and alliances. He also worked with PILER for many years.

JUSTICE (RTD.) RASHEED A.RAZVI

Justice Razvi is the former Judge of the High Court of Sindh. He was also President Karachi Bar Association in 1987. Mr. Rasheed A. Razvi was applauded as a top choice for on the ball representation in cut-throat commercial litigation. Mr. Razvi was a strong supporter of the labour movement in the decade of 70s.

MS. SHEEN FARRUKH

Ms. Sheen Farrukh is a veteran journalist and a peace activist. She is President / Editor of Inter Press Communication. She has also worked as Assistant Editor, Akhbar-e-Khawateen and City Editor, Daily Mashriq Karachi.

DR SYED JAFFAR AHMED

Dr. Syed Jaffar Ahmed, Director of the Pakistan Study Centre, University of Karachi, holds a doctorate in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, UK. He has written extensively on politics, history and constitution, authored and edited several books and contributed numerous articles in research journals and edited works.

DR. SABA GUL KHATTAK

Dr Saba Gul Khattak is a human rights activist and provides regular policy advice on women, governance and refugee issues to the government. She also worked for Planning Commission of Pakistan. Earlier, she was the Executive Director of Sustainable Development Policy Institution (SDPI). She has co-authored the book, ‘Hazardous Home-based Work: A Story of Multi Tiered Exploitation (OUP, 2005)’.

MR. FAISAL SIDDIQUI

Mr. Faisal Siddiqi is an advocate at the Sindh High Court. He specializes in Human Rights and public interest litigations and presently represents the workers and civil society in the Baldia factory fire case in Sindh High Court. A number of high profile human rights cases have been on his credit during the years. Mr. Siddiqi is the Co-Chairman of the Pakistan Center for Constitutional and Human Rights and currently working on judicial reforms.

DR. SONO KHANGHARANI

Dr. Khangharani was born in the Thar Desert, Sindh. After acquiring basic education from the village, he sought admission at the Sindh Agriculture University. After completing his education, Mr. Khangharani was appointed as a faculty member at the University. Later he worked with National Rural Support Program and then headed the Tharparkar Rural Development Project for many years. At present he is the Chief Executive Officer of Hisaar Foundation. He was Awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (president Award) in 2009.

DR. RIAZ AHMED SHAIKH

Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, Head of Social Sciences Department and Associate Professor at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) is an active academician who keeps engaged with different civil and human rights forums. A number of research articles and academic papers are on his credit.

JUSTICE (R) MAJIDA RAZVI

Justice (R) Majida Razvi is the first woman judge of a High Court in Pakistan. She practiced in the High Courts and Supreme Court and taught Law in Hamdard School of Law. As a writer she specialized in legal issues pertaining to rights of women and children, and is associated with various organizations in pursuit of human rights and eradication of all discrimination against women. She retired as Judge of the Sindh High Court and worked as the Chairperson, National Commission on the Status of Women in recent past. She is currently serving as the Chairperson of Sindh Human Rights Commission (Official).
